Each year, the Massachusetts Council of Nonprofits honors organizations whose work reflects some of the most innovative, creative, and effective efforts happening across the Commonwealth.
We are honored to share that Stone Soup Café is the 2026 winner of the Nonprofit Excellence Awards in the category of Community Building! The award will be presented later this month at the New England Aquarium in Boston.
This recognition belongs to everyone who has been part of Stone Soup Café's journey—our supporters, volunteers, staff, guests, and community partners.
Community is not static. It's dynamic and fluid. Our community is impacted by every person who engages with the Café.
This award is for YOU.

We’ve hired a fantastic new chef to help lead our kitchen team! Koti Dearborn grew up in Greenfield and has called Western Massachusetts home his entire life.
His passion for cooking began while attending Putnam Vocational Technical Academy’s Culinary Arts program in Springfield, MA, launching a career that has grown into more than 15 years of fast-paced, high-volume kitchen experience.
From line cooking to kitchen management, the culinary world is all he’s ever known. Still, if you ask him, he’ll tell you he’s only just getting “seasoned” — with plenty more to learn and many more dishes to create.

5K Road Race in Sunderland
|
|
Saturday, June 6, 8 am to 11 am - All States Materials Group is raising over $40,000 for the local community with this "Pound the Pavement" road race! This year, proceeds will benefit Stone Soup Cafe, Sunderland Elementary School, and Franklin County YMCA! The course will be one of the fastest courses in the Valley! If you are looking for a PR, this is your race. The start and finish will be at the Sunderland Elementary School, and the USATF-certified 5K course will loop through local farms and neighborhoods. Saturday, June 13, 12 pm to 4 pm - Stone Soup is vending again at this beloved event! The parade starts at noon at Greenfield Middle School and goes down Federal Street to Energy Park, where there will be vendors, performers, face painting, and a block party!! franklincountypride.org

Volunteer Appreciation + Stone Soup's 15th Birthday!

Sunday, June 14, 4-7 pm - The Café is turning 15!! We wouldn't be where we are today without the support of hundreds of committed volunteers. If you volunteered with the Café, this party is a big celebration for YOU too! Expect treats, surprises, and DJ Bobby C pumpin' up those jams. Family-friendly! Greenfield Town Common.
